What are Certifed Preowned

What are Certified Pre-Owned (CPO)

Think of certified pre-owned cars as the new car alternative. They provide you the opportunity to purchase more car than you could afford if you were buying a new car without having to question the quality of the vehicle being purchased.

Buying a certified pre-owned car means that has your car has been fully inspected by a manufacturer certified technician. All GM Certified Used Vehicles must undergo a rigorous 117-Point inspection process. Conducted by GM-trained technicians, each inspection is required to adhere to strict, factory-set standards to ensure that every vehicle's engine, chassis and body is in excellent condition.

Manufactures, such as General Motors have designed these comprehensive training and compliance programs to ensure that certified pre-owned cars are reliable vehicles that provide a great value.

Not all vehicles can have the Certified Pre-Owned designation. They must meet manufacturer mileage requirements. To even be considered for the GM Certified program, a vehicle must be 2004 or newer, with less than 75,000 miles. GM Certified Used Vehicles are only available through select GM dealers such as Ed Bozarth Chevrolet.

All General Motors Certified Pre-Owned cars come with a complimentary vehicle history report. This further ensures that you don't have to worry about major problems like accidents, fires or hidden titles.

With all the rigorous testing, General Motors is able to offer an additional warranty on these purchases. When you buy a certified pre-owned car from Ed Bozarth Chevrolet you will receive an additional 12 months and 12,000 miles worth of manufacturer bumper to bumper limited warranty protections.

Therefore if you buy a pre-owned car with 10,000 miles on it and assuming it still has 26,000 miles worth of manufacturer warranty, then the Certified Pre-Owned model would offer more manufacturer bumper-to-bumper protection then the new car. Please see the illustration below.

Illustration of how a Certified Pre-Owned may provide more Warranty than a New Vehicle

  • New Car
  • Certified Pre-Owned
  • Date of Purchase:
  • 7/1/2010
  • 7/1/2010
  • In-Service Date:
  • 7/1/2010
  • 7/1/2009
  • Miles on odometer when purchased:
  • 0
  • 10,000
  • Powertrain Coverage Mileage Expiration:
  • 100,000
  • 100,000
  • Factory Comprehensive Warranty Mileage Expiration:

  • Certified Comprehensive Warranty Expiration :
  • Not Applicable
  • 48,000
  • Bumper-to-Bumper Coverage End Mileage
